A 1972 work by composer Yvonne Desportes, one of the few women to have received the Prix de Rome (after Lili Boulanger, among others).
This music is full of energy; simple and fluid, in all the values of these terms. It demonstrates a great mastery of the art of composing, melody and harmony being installed almost naturally, with respect and emotion.
Yvonne Desportes was also a remarkable designer. She decorated her manuscript with an illustration which appears on the first page of the score.
There is another version of this work for a cappella choir in a different tone. However, the harmony of the two versions fits together (with a transposition, of course) without problem. See MeF 1714 -
