More info

Here is the original Dutch version of Philipp Nicolaï's choral. Under the surname of Sweelinck, Father Jan-Peterszoon is often confused with his son Dirck-Janszoon, both Dutch composers.

This hymn is intended for the celebration of the feast of the Annunciation, on March 25. Jean-Sébastien Bach composed Cantata BW1 using the original melody and the text translated into German.

The score includes the German version and can be sung using either text.
