  • A Pastoral is a musical genre that idyllically illustrates nature, shepherds and shepherdesses.
  • The one entitled "Les Festes de l'Amour et Bachus", in a prologue and three acts, was performed in 1672. It is made up of extracts from different ballet-comedies composed by Lully for Molière (Georges Dandin, Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, La Comic Pastoral, The Magnificent Lovers).
  • This piece is taken from the "Pastorale Comique" which was performed in 1667 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. It features three wizards (or magicians) who surround and mock a young shepherd.
  • Another excerpt from this work, "Sleep, beautiful eyes", is available under the reference MeF 311
